Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way label and Kevin McCormick’s Langley Park are teaming to pick up the screen rights to Nate Blakeslee’s book proposal “American Wolf”.
The film tells tells the story of O-Six, a female alpha wolf and arguably amongst the world’s most famous wild animals. Collared and tracked by researchers at Yellowstone National Park, she gained a huge following by scientists and the public.
She was shot by a hunter in 2012 just outside the park’s boundaries, an act that caused outrage despite it being legal. DiCaprio and Jennifer Killoran will produce the feature which focuses on the impact she had on the humans around her from the wolf watchers to the vilified hunter who remains unnamed to this day.
