Melissa Leo (“The Fighter”) and Til Schweiger (“Inglourious Basterds”) are joining Shia LaBeouf in Fredrik Bond’s gritty pulp romance “The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman” at Voltage Prods. and Bona Fide Prods. reports Variety.
LaBeouf plays a normal guy who falls for a woman (Evan Rachel Wood) who has been claimed by a violent crime boss (Mads Mikkelsen).
Schweiger will play a Serbian gangster and former paramilitary fighter named Darko who runs a Budapest strip club. Leo has been cast LaBeouf’s late mother whose spirit visits and advise him.
James Buckley (“The Inbetweeners”) is being sought for a supporting role while Albert Berger, Ron Yerxa, Bill Horberg and Craig J. Flores will produce. Filming begins next month in Eastern Europe.
