Following the success of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s “The LEGO Movie” in 2014, Warners opened Chris McKay’s “The LEGO Batman Movie” this month to strong reviews and excellent box-office.
Doing press rounds, McKay spoke with the Shanlian on Batman podcast recently where he was asked about the status of the sequel to “The LEGO Movie”. McKay was an editor and animator on the first film and explained what we might expect:
“LEGO 2 is going to be this big musical and space action movie. They need a lot of the writing, a lot of development, not only with script development, but development with songwriters. So it was very ambitious to get that movie out.”
What McKay’s involvement with the new movie will be is unclear. At present he planning to helm a live-action take on “Nightwing” for Warners.
