“Water for Elephants” helmer Francis Lawrence tells MTV News that he’d be up for doing a sequel to one of his earlier films, but has little interest in working on the rumored prequel to another.
The first is 2005 “Constantine”, the Keanu Reeves-led adaptation of the comic “Hellblazer”. “‘Constantine’ has this cult following, which has been great. It’s been embraced. It would be great to figure out a sequel, and if we did, and we’ve been trying to figure one out, it would be great to do the really dark, scary [version]. We got caught in that weird PG-13 – R no man’s land, and we should do the hard-R scary version, which I would love to do” says Lawrence.
The other is 2007’s “I Am Legend”, the Will Smith-led adaptation of the famed short story. Prequel rumors have swirled for some time about the project, but Lawrence says “No, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.”
