Jennifer Lawrence will both star in and produce Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s next film, a true-crime mafia story titled “Mob Girl” at studio Makeready and Excellent Cadaver.
Based on the novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and author Teresa Carpenter, the story follows the life of Arlyne Brickman (Lawrence), a young woman from the Lower East Side of New York City who spent years as a mob girlfriend.
She soon began to get in on the action herself and eventually became a police informant and major witness in the government’s case against the Colombo crime family.
Angelina Burnett (“The Americans”) is adapting Carpenter’s book while Sorrentino (“The Young Pope,” “The Great Beauty”), Justine Polsky and Lorenzo Mieli will also produce.
