Lautner Still In “Twilight” Sequel

Despite definite avenues being made into his potential replacement, 16-year-old actor Taylor Lautner is set to reprise the role of Jacob Black in “New Moon”, Summit Entertainment’s sequel to “Twilight” reports The Associated Press.

In an announcement on Wednesday but the studio and director Chris Weitz, the helmer said the actor was “emotionally right” for the part and has been spending time in the gym, trying to add 19 pounds of muscle to his frame.

The Jacob Black character becomes a central figure in the plot as Bella Swan is drawn into the world of the werewolves, the ancestral enemies of vampires.

The character goes through many changes physically in the film, including growing taller and bulkier and aging ten years. Both Michael Copon and Ben Barnes apparently both campaigned for the role when word leaked a few weeks back that the studio was looking for an older actor for the part.
