Larry Crowne Full Cast Announced

In an interesting announcement, actor Tom Hanks revealed the cast for the upcoming Universal Pictures comedy “Larry Crowne” via a photo on his Twitter account.

Hanks snapped a shot of the casting board, something seen in practically every film production office, which displays head shots of all the major lead and supporting roles in the film. Hanks though took the shot at enough of a distance that the names are blurred, leading to many playing “guess the headshot”.

From left to right we have: Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Cedric the Entertainer, Rami Malek, George Takei, Dale Dye, Peter Scolari, Bryan Cranston, Wilmer Valderrama, Taraji P. Henson, Malcolm Barrett, Mamie Gummer (*unconfirmed*), Bob Stephenson, Jon Seda, Maria Canals Barrera and Holmes Osborne.

Mbatha-Raw is best known for her work on British TV in shows like the short-lived “Bonekickers”, as the sister of time-travelling former companion Martha Jones in “Doctor Who”, and the babysitter who has an affair with recently widowed MI-5 spy Adam Carter in “Spooks”.

Rami Malek starred on TV’s “The War at Home” and was seen the other week in a two-episode guest stint as a suicide bomber on “24”. He can currently be seen in HBO’s “The Pacific”. Jon Seda also stars in “The Pacific” and has had regular roles on “Close to Home,” “Kevin Hill,” “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “Third Watch”.

Dale Dye is a real USMC Captain who often starred in small roles as military officers in films and shows including the likes of “Spy Game,” “Band of Brothers,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Outbreak,” “Under Siege” and numerous Oliver Stone films like “JFK” and “Born on the Fourth of July”.

Peter Scolari is a comedy veteran who worked with Hanks on “Bosom Buddies”. Bryan Cranston is best known for his work on “Malcolm in the Middle” and his Emmy-winning role on AMC’s acclaimed “Breaking Bad”. Wilmer Valderrama made his name on “That 70’s Show” though these days is more known for his off-screen antics.

Malcolm Barrett had a small role in Oscar-winner “The Hurt Locker” and currently stars on “Better off Ted”. Bob Stephenson has had regular roles on “The Forgotten” and “Jericho” as well as many small film roles in the likes of “Zodiac,” “Transformers” and “Charlie’s Angels”.

Maria Canals Barrera voiced Hawkgirl in the “Justice League” animated series, has been a regular on “The Wizards of Waverly Place” for three years, and stars in the highly successful “Camp Rock” telemovies. Holmes Osborne is an acting legend of many films from “Donnie Darko” and “The Quiet American” to “Anchorman” and “Affliction”.

In “Larry Crowne”, Hanks plays a man who needs to find a new career and reinvent himself. He also directs from a script he co-wrote with Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”). Shooting is about to get underway in Los Angeles.
