Filming has officially begun in Los Angeles on the “Annabelle” sequel at New Line. David F. Sandberg (“Lights Out”) directs the follow-up to 2014’s hugely successful first film which pulled in nearly $257 million at the worldwide box office during its theatrical run.
Set several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation Annabelle.
Australian acting legends Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto have joined the cast which also includes Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Anne Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Lou Lou Safran, Samara Lee and Tayler Buck.
Sandberg directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman. Peter Safran and James Wan will produce the film which hasn’t disclosed its budget or targeted wrap date. It’s currently slated for release May next year.
