LaBeouf Out Of “Y: The Last Man”

Though he’s been linked with the role for years now, Shia LaBeouf has just ruled himself out of playing Yorick Brown in the upcoming “Y: The Last Man” film adaptation.

Asked by Wizard Magazine about taking the role, the actor says his role of Sam Witwicky in the “Transformers” films may be a bit too close to Yorick for him to do it – “You take Sam and you put a monkey on his shoulder. I don’t know if it’s that big a differential. It seems like he’s the ordinary guy in an extraordinary situation again….I’m not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around” says LaBeouf.

His “Disturbia” and “Eagle Eyes” director D.J. Caruso and writer Carl Ellsworth remain in place to adapt Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra’s comic about a young man and his monkey who’re the lone survivors of a plague that wipes out all males on the planet.
