Shia LaBeouf has withdrawn from Barry Levinson’s currently in pre-production comedy “Rock the Kasbah” at Open Road Films.
The story follows a has-been rock manager (Bill Murray) who takes his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan. When he finds himself in Kabul, abandoned and penniless, he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice and manages her through Afghanistan’s version of American Idol.
LaBeouf was to have played a military duo alongside Danny McBride. No reason for his departure has been given, though the split is said to be amicable.
Bruce Willis and Kate Hudson also star in the film. LaBeouf has no further acting jobs lined up.
