Multi-award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who crafted the songs for 2016’s “La La Land” and last year’s “The Greatest Showman,” have revealed they’re also involved in director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming live-action remake of 1992’s Disney animated classic “Aladdin”.
Pasek and Paul collaborated with musical legend Alan Menken on the film with the pair getting to write a whole new number for Jasmine (Naomi Scott). Paul says: “We got to write a new song for Jasmine. Alan wrote a beautiful piece of music and [Scott] is incredible”.
Additionally, they also wrote a duet for Aladdin and Jasmine, and a new verse for the original film’s opening song “Arabian Nights”. “Aladdin” stars Mena Massoud and Will Smith and is set for release on May 24th 2019.
