Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley”) is attached as the lead in the film adaptation of Simon Rich’s short story “Any Person, Living or Dead” at Legendary Entertainment.
The story follows a brilliant and reclusive scientist who, using a homemade time machine, gathers a roundtable of the greatest minds in history (Shakespeare, George Washington, Aristotle, etc.) to solve humanity’s problems.
His plan fails to take into account language barriers, racism and the medieval murderous mindset. Instead of learning from these Great Men of History, he must hunt them down and blast them to the past before they can ruin our future.
Rich will adapt the screenplay while Jonathan Krisel (“Baskets,” “Portlandia”) will direct.
