Krieger Celebrates A “Spectacular Now”

Lee Toland Krieger (“The Vicious Kind”) is set to direct a film adaptation of Tim Tharp’s coming-of-age novel “The Spectacular Now” for 21 Laps says The Hollywood Reporter.

Planned as an indie R-rated teen comedy in tone, the story centers on a high school senior who lives entirely in the moment. He starts dating a girl who is a social outcast and is trying to plan for her future, but he realizes he has the power to permanently impact someone’s life.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber (“500 Days of Summer”) penned the script while Tom McNulty is producing. Marc Webb was originally attached to direct but opted to helm the “Spider-Man” reboot instead.
