Before he gets around to playing the new Jack Ryan, actor John Krasinski has joined the cast of Kathryn Bigelow’s currently in production Detroit riots film which has yet to settle on a title.
The ensemble cast includes John Boyega, Will Poulter, Jacob Latimore, Algee Smith, Ben O’Toole, Jack Reynor, Jason Mitchell, Kaitlyn Dever and Hannah Murray with Boyega himself revealing today on Twitter that he’s already wrapped all his scenes on the Boston-based production.
Mark Boal’s script is described as a crime thriller set against the backdrop of the devastating riots that took place in Detroit over five summer days in 1967. It will cover both sides of the racial divide and both sides of the police and civilian line.
Bigelow, Boal, Megan Ellison, Matthew Budman and Colin Wilson are producing. The film is currently targeting a 2017 bow to tie in with the 50th anniversary of the incident.
