Korean FPS Game “Crossfire” Getting Adapted

“Fast and the Furious” series producer Neal Moritz is set to produce a film version of South Korean Smilegate Group’s massive Asian FPS video game hit “Crossfire”.

Smilegate considered various proposals over a year before making the announcement this week. Moritz’s Original Film was chosen for its ability to produce action tentpoles with global appeal and to potentially yield a multi-movie franchise.

First launched in 2007, the team shooter game has 400 million registered users and up to 6 million concurrent players. Offered initially as a free-to-play game, add-on extras within the game yielded a whopping $1.3 billion in sales last year.

No writer, director or cast has yet been announced.
