“Preacher,” “Future Man” and “The Boys” executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are set to serve in the same capacity on “Console Wars,” a limited drama series which Legendary Television will produce based on the Blake J. Harris novel about the Sega vs. Nintendo battle.
The book tells the behind-the-scenes story of how Sega took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry back when living rooms were dominated by the two consoles. Both eventually were supplanted by the still ongoing Microsoft vs. Sony feud that still today, though Nintendo survived and thrives in its own particular niche.
“Kong: Skull Island” helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct and Mike Rosolio is set to write the first episode of the project which the pair will also executive produce along with James Weaver, Julian Rosenberg, Harris and Jonah Tulis, Scott Rudin and Eli Bush. No network or streaming service is currently attached.
Rogen and Goldberg signed on to write and direct a “Console Wars” film back in 2014 but it never seemed to come together.
