Knightley, Fassbender, Waltz Take “Cure”

Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender and Christoph Waltz have apparently joined David Cronenberg’s long-gestating thriller “The Talking Cure” for Hanway Films.

Announced on the Facebook page of the film’s Australian distributor Hopscotch Films, the project has been in long development from a play by Christopher Hampton.

The story revolves around famed psychoanalyst Carl Jung’s relationship with a young Russian girl driven mad by her past and who became his first patient, and Jung’s esteemed mentor and father of modern psychology Sigmund Freud.

Cronenberg has been linked to the project since 2007, though his return is not surprising considering two further projects he’s been linked to – “The Matarese Circle” and “Cosmopolis” – were both put on the back burner this year.
