Knight Shoots Down “Guardians 3” Rumors

A few weeks ago a report cropped up indicating “Kubo and the Two Strings” and “Bumblebee” director Travis Knight had become the top choice to replace the ousted James Gunn on the third “Guardians of the Galaxy” film at Marvel Studios and Disney Pictures.

Questions still linger as to whether Gunn’s script will still be used, but one thing that is clear this week – Travis Knight won’t be involved. Knight has seemingly denied the reports, telling Bad Taste this week he’s going back to the LAIKA animation studios:

“After Bumblebee, my goal is to return to work at the animation studios Laika, my ‘child’, bringing with me all the baggage of experiences I have gained with this project. I’m a huge fan of what Marvel did, it’s no surprise for anyone to know that as a child I was a huge fan of comics. But no, it’s just a rumor.”

Marvel would then appear to still be on the hunt for a director. Until then, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” continues to be on hold until further notice.
