Director Peter Berg and actor Taylor Kitsch are looking to re-team on “Lone Survivor”, an adaptation of the non-fiction book of the same name by Marcus Luttrell, for Universal Pictures says Deadline.
The story details a covert mission in the Hindu Kush in 2005 undertaken by the author and his fellow Navy SEALs who struggled to survive an attack by Taliban forces. The mission went wrong after their presence was given away, and Luttrell was the only one who made it out alive.
Berg has been keen on making the film for some years, and two years ago Universal came to him with a deal – they’ll green light it for him, if he made a feature adaptation of the board game “Battleship” for them first. Berg agreed, and now “Battleship” is one of Universal’s 2012 tentpole features.
Berg has asked Kitsch, who also stars in “Battleship”, to play one of four SEAL team members who fight for their lives. He will cast the other three roles shortly with shooting aiming to begin in January.
