Casting rumors seemingly happen ever day, but one that was met with an almost unanimously positive response in recent weeks was that of “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” and “The Crown” actress Vanessa Kirby being up for the role of Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”.
With Kirby coming to cinemas again soon in “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” she has started doing long lead press for that film and Entertainment Tonight spoke with her and asked her about the rumor. She said: “I don’t know anything about it”. They then followed that up by asking her if she’d be interested in the role, and she positively gushed about the possibility:
“Are you kidding?! I would love to be Catwoman. Oh my god, it would be a dream. I’d have to do lots of squats. I mean, literally, lots of squats.”
If Kirby were being actually courted at present, she would likely be more hesitant. In any case the character, along with numerous other villains, are expected to appear in the film and casting for the various roles opposite Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman should be taking place in the very near future.
“The Batman” begins filming around the New Year and is set to hit theaters June 2021.
