James Gunn’s soon to film “The Suicide Squad” serves as both a sequel and part reboot of the property, shifting the focus to a new team of bad guys coming together.
As a result, only some of the first film’s surviving cast are back. We know Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn are definitely back, and it has been hinted that both Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller and Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg are also returning.
The latter two, especially Kinnaman, have not been officially confirmed as yet. This week however, the “House of Cards” and “Altered Carbon” actor has indicated he’s returning to set with a new photo on Instagram in which he’s on a gun range training and says: “Easing into that squad preppppp”.
The returnees join new to the franchise actors like David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher and John Cena rumored for a role. Filming on the project is expected to begin this Fall ahead of a release on August 6th 2021.
