Kinnaman Open To “Altered Carbon” Return

Despite all the body swapping within the show’s story, actor Joel Kinnaman may still return for the second season of the Netflix sci-fi series “Altered Carbon”.

Based upon the novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan, the series was set in a future where a person’s physical body can be swapped out like cars or phones with Kinnaman’s Elias Ryker serving as the vessel for the lead character Takeshi Kovacs.

Kinnaman was only signed on for one season and so the show could easily proceed without him. When the actor signed on for Amazon’s “Hanna” series recently, it was thought that he was done.

Now, in a new interview with THR, the actor was asked if he is done with “Altered Carbon” for good to which he responded:

“I can’t confirm that. We don’t know anything about the second season. I don’t know what’s going to happen. No one does, really. Season two hasn’t been picked up yet, so who knows? If it was a cool story, for sure. I loved making this show. I had a great experience. The feedback has been fantastic. But I have no idea what’s going on with the second season.”

Kinnaman’s return, of course, could easily be limited to only a few episodes, but until the new season is greenlit it’s unclear if the show will continue let alone the potential return of his character.
