An interesting new rumor suggests that Taron Egerton, the breakout young and buff star of “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” might play a young Han Solo in the upcoming Gareth Edwards-directed “Star Wars” spin-off movie which begins shooting in the UK around Easter.
The report comes from British tabloid The Sun (via io9) which says the production will overlap with the last bits of filming on the James Bond film “Spectre” which also is being filmed at Pinewood Studios and wraps late March/early April.
Gary Whitta wrote the first draft of the film’s script with Chris Weitz doing a recent polish. However, there’s no story details as yet regarding the movie beyond rumors of it involving Han Solo and Boba Fett and potentially being a ‘heist thriller’ following a group of space pirates.
Egerton isn’t the first rumored for the part as “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul was linked to the role a few months ago, but whomever has scored the male lead role is expected to be revealed soon as the film’s female lead Felicity Jones was recently announced.
