King’s “Sleeping Beauties” To Become A Series

Anonymous Content has scored the rights to Stephen King and his son Owen King’s upcoming supernatural novel “Sleeping Beauties” with plans to develop it as a TV series.

Set for a September release, the story is set in the near future in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women’s prison. The trouble is when women go to sleep their minds go to another place and they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze.

If said gauze is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent. Meanwhile, the abandoned men are left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman though is immune to all this, is she the key?

Michael Sugar (“The OA,” “13 Reasons Why”) and Ashley Zalta (“The OA,” “Maniac”) will executive produce.
