King, Plummer Set For Hardwicke’s “Stargirl”

Young actors Joey King (“Ramona and Beezus”) and Charlie Plummer (“Boardwalk Empire”) will serve as the leads in the film adaptation of Jerry Spinelli’s 2000 novel “Stargirl” for Gotham Group, Hahnscape Entertainment, and BCDF Pictures.

Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”) helms the story of a homeschooled teenage girl (King) who enrolls in an Arizona high school and through her non-conformity alters the ecosystem of the student body.

As the same time she wins the heart of star-struck boy (Plummer). When the student body turns on her, the boy tells her to try to fit in.

Kristin Hahn penned the script and filming begins in New Mexico in the Fall.
