King & Hill’s “Throttle” Gets Adapted

Producer Emile Gladstone and his A Bigger Boat Productions label have optioned Stephen King and Joe Hill’s novella “Throttle” to be turned into a feature.

The action follows motorcycle gang riding across a stark Nevada desert, after a deal gone bad, who become pursued by a faceless trucker hell-bent on revenge. The relationship between a father and son serves as the story’s main element.

John Scott III (“Maggie”) will pen the screenplay for the project. “Throttle” is heavily inspired by the classic Richard Matheson short story “Duel” which was the source material for the iconic 1971 telemovie that was the first film and career launcher of Steven Spielberg.

The optioning of “Throttle” comes at a big time for king with films based on his iconic works “The Dark Tower” and “It” opening this year, and the series “Castle Rock” currently in the works for Hulu.
