Several major projects have just been acquired for U.S. distribution with planned releases in the coming year or so.
Netflix has picked up the rights to writer/director Sara Colangelo’s “The Kindergarten Teacher” in the U.S. and Canada, and they’ll make the film available for subscribers to stream sometime this year. Maggie Gyllenhaal stars as a teacher who becomes dangerously obsessed with nurturing the talent of one of her five-year-old students.
Global Road Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to Drew Pearce’s action-thriller “Hotel Artemis,” starring Jodie Foster, Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista. In ‘Artemis,’ Foster plays a nurse who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals in a near-future Los Angeles that’s torn apart by riots. No release date has yet been set.
Finally, Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. rights to Jennifer Van Gessel’s documentary “Bieber Generation” which explores the singer’s massive and adoring fan base. The film is set to hit VOD and home video on March 6th.
