Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”) has closed a deal to direct “Logan’s Run,” the long in the works remake of the classic 1976 film which itself was based on the William F. Noland and George Clayton Johnson novel.
The premise sees a future utopian society that demands the death of everyone upon reaching a certain age in order to ensure resources are maintained in equilibrium.
Anyone who veers from that destiny is dubbed a ‘runner’ and is hunted by operatives known as Sandmen. Logan 5 is a Sandman who is forced to go on the run.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” and “The Town” writer Peter Craig will pen the project which is expected to feature a female lead instead of a male lead. Kinberg previously says the property was being conceived as a potential franchise.
The likes of Bryan Singer and Joseph Kosinski have been attached to previous incarnations.
