We have yet to see any photos or footage from Josh Trank’s reboot of “The Fantastic Four” franchise at 20th Century Fox. While the film isn’t out until August next year, it is hoped that the teaser trailer will hit in the next few months.
That trailer will likely be our first glimpse at the secretive film, in the process giving us an idea at what kind of tone, look and feel Trank is aiming for. Because of this, the film’s writer/producer Simon Kinberg tells ComicBook.com that those in charge are being VERY careful about what footage they will show off with the overall tone being the focus of the first reveal:
“We’re putting it together now, and one of the important things, because this ‘Fantastic Four’ is a reboot, and is such a different tonality and vibe from those other films, we want to make sure that the first thing we put out really expresses the voice of the movie, and isn’t compromised by not having visual effects ready, or anything like that.
I don’t actually know when it’s coming out, but I’ve seen all the footage from the movie. I was there for pretty much the whole shoot. It is a very different film from the others, and one that I think is very different from other superhero movies. It’s a very emotional, character-driven, more grounded film than I think people are anticipating.”
The previous two films in the “Fantastic Four” series were decidedly not “grounded,” embracing a more upbeat and almost light-hearted tone whilst dealing with world-ending threats.
