Netflix has renewed the Tina Fey-produced comedy “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” for a third season, three months before the second season premieres on the streaming service.
The Ellie Kemper-led comedy was originally ordered to two seasons by Netflix after the show, originally developed for NBC, was ultimately passed on by that network.
Fey says the upcoming second season will go beyond the fish-out-of-water comedy stylings of the first season. She tells The Live Feed: “Now she’s got deeper emotional and life issues that she kind of has to really get into, and that’s more what this season is about.”
The second season of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” premieres April 15th.
