When we last saw Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) it was at the end of the limited series “24: Live Another Day” in 2014 with the character surrendering himself to Russian agents in exchange for Chloe’s freedom.
In early 2017, the franchise will be resurrected with “24: Legacy” which features an all-new cast and centers on a new lead – Eric Carter (played by Corey Hawkins), a former Army Ranger whose past comes back to haunt him.
When the new season was announced and during its production, it was made quite clear that Sutherland is only involved in the series as an executive producer and wouldn’t return to his role on screen. Now though, in an interview with Empire, producer Howard Gordon tells the publication that the plan is to get Bauer back after all – just not right away:
“Our intention is definitely to bring some of the old people into this story, up to and including Kiefer, once this show gets its legs.”
‘Legacy’ will follow the format of ‘Live Another Day’ and will run for twelve episodes. The series will debut on February 5th after the Super Bowl.
