Paramount Pictures and comedian Kevin Hart have teamed up to develop a remake of the iconic Bill Murray 1988 comedy “Scrooged”.
Richard Donner helmed the then contemporary fantasy comedy spin on Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” in which Bill Murray played a selfish television executive who is visited by various ghosts who help him regain his Christmas spirit. Karen Allen, Bobcat Goldthwait and Robert Mitchum also starred.
Only a moderate box office hit, it quickly became a cult video smash and a regular Christmas staple.
A search for a writer to pen the script for the new take is underway with the project seen as a potential acting vehicle for Hart who will produce. Hart is in cinemas this weekend with “The Secret Life of Pets 2”.
