“Felicity” and “The Americans” star Keri Russell is reportedly in early talks to join J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode IX” at Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm.
Abrams and Lucasfilm executives had been meeting with several actresses for the role for the past two months and settled on Russell right before this week’s holiday. Specifics of the role Russell, who worked with Abrams on “Felicity” and “Mission: Impossible III,” will play are under wraps though it does call for fight scenes.
Abrams will reportedly cast two more key actors by the time production kicks off at the end of the month. John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver are all expected to return for the film which Abrams co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan.
