“Dunkirk” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” breakout star Barry Keoghan and the one and only Diane Lane are set to lead the impressive cast of FX’s “Y,” the long in the works TV series adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s iconic comic book series “Y: The Last Man”.
The 60-issue comic follows young amateur escape artist Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand, the last two men on Earth. Something simultaneously kills every mammal on Earth possessing a Y chromosome – including embryos, fertilized eggs, and even sperm.
Society is plunged into chaos as infrastructures collapse and the surviving women everywhere try to cope with the loss of the men. Yorick goes on a mission to find his girlfriend Beth, who was on vacation in Australia. The series comes after multiple attempts at a film adaptation collapsed.
Keoghan plays Yorick, while Lan will play his mother – U.S. Senator Jennifer Brown. The series also stars Imogen Poots (“Green Room,” “Fright Night”) as tough and confident EMT Hero Brown, Lashana Lynch (“Captain Marvel,” “Bulletproof”) as Secret Service Agent 355, Juliana Canfield (“Succession”) as missing girlfriend Beth, and Marin Ireland (“Sneaky Pete,” “Hell or High Water”) as the President’s senior assistant Nora.
“Kings” showrunner and “American Gods” executive producer Michael Green and “Luke Cage” producer Aïda Mashaka Croal serve as showrunners on this and will executive produce alongside Vaughan, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. Melina Matsoukas (“Insecure,” “Master of None”) directed the pilot episode/
