We’ve known for a while that three of the four key “Pirates of the Caribbean” on-screen talents – Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom – are appearing in next Summer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”.
Now it seems the one absentee may not be so absent after all. TooFab reports that Keira Knightley will return to the role of Elizabeth Swann in the fifth film in the series after she and Bloom sat the last entry out.
The site indicates she will have an on-screen reunion with her two original co-stars, Depp and Bloom, with her role having been shot in secret and said to be a small cameo that will serve as part of a post-credit sequence to set up the already announced sixth ‘Pirates’ film.
Bloom’s role in the fifth is said to be far more substantial, though how much so is unclear and Disney is currently refusing to comment on any of it.
In the new film deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including Jack Sparrow whose only hope is the legendary Trident of Poseidon.
Kevin McNally, Stephen Graham, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, Golshifteh Farahani and Paul McCartney also star. Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg direct the film which will open May 26th.
