Kebbell In Talks For Messala In “Ben-Hur”

Toby Kebbell (“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “The Fantastic Four”) has begun early talks play the best friend turned villain Messala in Timur Bekmambetov’s upcoming remake of “Ben-Hur” for MGM.

The remake will reportedly be a closer adaptation of the original 1880 novel by Lew Wallace and centers on the betrayal of Ben-Hur (Jack Huston) by his childhood friend Messala, a betrayal that leads Ben-Hur being sold into slavery.

Morgan Freeman is playing Ildarin, the man who teaches Ben-Hur to become a champion chariot racer, as he seeks his revenge against Messala. A February 26th 2016 release date is being targeted.
