Kate Winslet is coming back to television, following up her Emmy-winning “Mildred Pierce” work several years ago, with the HBO limited dramatic series “Mare of Easttown”.
In the new series, Winslet plays a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder at a time when her own life is crumbling around her.
Brad Ingelsby (“Out of the Furnace,” “Run All Night”) created the drama, wrote all the episodes and will serve as showrunner. “Warrior and “The Accountant” helmer Gavin O’Connor directs all the episodes and both men and Winslet will executive produce.
Winslet will shortly begin filming Francis Lee’s “Ammonite” with Saoirse Ronan. O’Connor and Ingelsby recently worked together on the Ben Affleck-led “Torrance”.
