“Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Doctor Who” star Karen Gillan has officially joined the cast of the upcoming “Jumanji” film at Sony Pictures. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas star in the film which begins production next month in Hawaii.
“Bad Teacher” and “Sex Tape” helmer Jake Kasdan will direct from a screenplay by “High Fidelity” and “Con Air” scribe Scott Rosenberg. Like the 1995 original film starring Robin Williams, this will be based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book in which a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb.
