Bunim/Murray Productions, the company behind “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” are teaming with soccer legend Pele for a limited scripted event series.
Pele and his manager Paul Kemsley will develop the series based on the icon’s life. Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, the series will explore his time in New York in the mid-1970s while he was playing for the Cosmos alongside other international players.
Pele started playing for Santos FC Santos at 15 and the Brazil national team at 16. He won three FIFA World Cups, in 1958, 1962 and 1970. The former forward is considered the greatest soccer player in history with a record 1,281 goals in 1,363 games.
The currently untitled project will be shopped to broadcast, cable, premium and streaming services – so no network is currently attached.
