“Harold & Kumar” and “House” star Kal Penn has put his acting career on hold to join the Obama administration’s staff.
According to the trades, Penn has taken the job of associate director in the office of public liaison and will be working to forge alliances with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities and the arts community.
The job means a large paycut, but the actor will be entering the White House on a daily basis for his very demanding new occupation.
Penn says he has no plans to run for public office and hasn’t ruled out returning to the big or small screen once his job is finished.
Penn’s supporting role on “House” came to a surprising end on Monday’s episode.
