J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” boasted several notable actors in cameos where you wouldn’t recognise them including Simon Pegg and Daniel Craig. Now it seems Rian Johnson is doing the same with his “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”.
There’s been rumors of Tom Hardy and former “Take That” frontman Gary Barlow popping up, now Making Star Wars reports that “Mulholland Drive” and “The Leftovers” star Justin Theroux is playing an ‘expert slicer’ in the film. In the extended canon, slicers are essentially the Star Wars term for hackers.
This would mark the first time this type of character will be seen in a big screen “Star Wars” film and Theroux is said to have both a “pivotal moment” and a ‘unique costume’ with the latter resembling a “Star Wars” spin on Indiana Jones’ white tuxedo from “Temple of Doom”.
Theroux’s character, said to have a “James Bond look about him,” and is part of a scene set on a casino planet. Benicio del Toro’s character has been rumored to be the owner of said space casino, but that wasn’t confirmed.
The first trailer for the film is expected to debut at Star Wars Celebration next month in Orlando. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens December 15th.
