Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman, executive producers on FX’s acclaimed series “Justified,” are turning another work of Elmore Leonard’s into a TV series.
The pair has optioned three of the late author’s praised “Detroit” novels – “Unknown Man #89,” “Pagan Babies” and “Mr. Paradise” – to serve as the basis for a new TV series targeted for cable and streaming networks. They are also actively exploring other Detroit novels by Leonard as well.
Tod ‘Kip’ Williams (“Door in the Floor”) is writing the adaptation with the plan to focus on one novel each season. Characters will occasionally appear in multiple seasons, while additional novels may be used to spawn narratively original seasons.
Timberman, Beverly, Kerry Schmidt and Leonard’s son author Peter Leonard will executive produce with the series now seeking directors.
