Justice Trailer Falls Short Of “Civil War” Views

The third trailer for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” debuted on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday night, the clip receiving a more mixed reaction than that of the well-regarded Comic Con trailer from back in July and arguably even more divided than the reaction that greeted the original teaser trailer back in April.

Now the stats are out via ListenFirst Media and Variety reports that the new trailer pulled in 23.2 million views in its first 24 hours on YouTube and Facebook following its debut on the Jimmy Kimmel show. That’s down on the 30 million and 30.1 million times viewings for the teaser and Comic Con trailers.

That’s also far behind the self-reported 61 million views that the first trailer for Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” received in its first 24 hours – in that case though Marvel was counting more than just YouTube and Facebook views.

Some minor updates on both films also emerged today with the Twitter account of a site dubbed ‘The Aquaman Shrine’ posting photos of toy tie-ins for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. The pics show off Jason Momoa’s full body outfit, which includes gold armor pauldrons, demi-gauntlets and boots along with green pants.

Meanwhile Captain America himself Chris Evans says that with Iron Man appearing heavily in ‘Civil War’, he tells EW he would: “be happy to be in an Iron Man movie. We’ve been in so many movies together, the titles are almost, at this point, inconsequential. We all win!”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens March 25th while “Captain America: Civil War” opens May 6th.
