If you’re a fan of superhero properties, this weekend is likely to be one that will inspire much debate.
Reviews are in for both Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” film and Netflix’s “Marvel’s The Punisher” TV series and reaction is decidedly mixed at best. Both works have their strong supporters and decriers, both have obvious issues and both are tipped to enjoy success this weekend.
First up, “Justice League” has been given a 43% score from online review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and a 49/100 on Metacritic. That puts it well above both 2016 DCEU film entries (“Batman v Superman,” “Suicide Squad”) and nearly on par with “Man of Steel,” but far behind “Wonder Woman”.
“Marvel’s The Punisher” series has scored a 59/100 on Metacritic, making it the third worst reviewed Marvel series to date – behind only “Inhumans” (27) and “Iron Fist” (37). That said, the show has earned some rave reviews from key trade magazines and notable writers.
Ratings for ‘Punisher’ aren’t going to be revealed, but “Justice League” is reportedly on course for a $110 million opening in its North American box-office debut this weekend.
