There’s been very early projections, but now official tracking figures are in with Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” currently headed for an opening of $110 to $120 million according to industry estimates.
As we’re still a few weeks out, so that figure will almost certainly go higher. Right now it’s tracking ahead of “Wonder Woman” (which opened to $103.2 million), but “Thor: Ragnarok” is currently stealing some of the film’s thunder. That movie is said to be targeting a $125 million opening this weekend.
“Justice League” reportedly has a 56% definite choice, 15% first choice and 26% unaided awareness overall. Even so, the film will struggle to come near the $166 million opening of “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
The tracking figures come as tickets for the DC superhero ensemble movie went on sale last night and caused crashing of movie ticketing service Fandango due to high demand.
Additionally there’s a great new IMAX poster, a new TV spot and Chinese trailer for the film which both offer a bunch of new footage, and a track from Danny Elfman’s score. “Justice League” opens November 17th.
