Jurassic World To Open Over $100M?

The first tracking numbers are in for Universal Pictures’ “Jurassic World” and it looks like the dinosaur sequel is on track for a domestic opening weekend of somewhere between $100-130 million, about in line with that of “Man Of Steel” two summers ago which opened to $116 million.

According to Deadline, three weeks out from release the total awareness for the film is said to be in the 90% range and unaided awareness is higher than earthquake film “San Andreas” which opens next week.

“Jurassic World” is tipped to be one of the last $100 million+ openers of the Summer with Universal’s “Minions” being the only other likely member to join the club. Despite their big name brand appeal, the previous entries in the “Terminator” and “Mission Impossible” franchises didn’t crack $50 million in their opening weekends, and Marvel’s “Ant-Man” isn’t expected to do “Guardians of the Galaxy” level business.
