“Jurassic World” co-writer Derek Connolly has been set to pen the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim” for Legendary Pictures.
Drafts of the follow-up’s script have already been worked on by del Toro, Zak Penn and Jon Spaihts. It is unclear if Connolly is doing a page one rewrite.
The story has previously been rumored to be set many years on with the Jaeger robot suits now commonplace. “Daredevil” first season showrunner Steven DeKnight is taking over direction on the sequel to the mechas vs monsters tale.
del Toro is remaining onboard as producer alongside Thomas Tull, Mary Parent and Jon Jashni.
