Julia Roberts will produce and star in a movie about the wildlife conservationist Joan Root, who was murdered in her Kenyan home earlier this year reports Variety.
Inspired by Vanity Fair article “A Flowering Evil,” it follows Root’s earlier life making documentaries around the globe with her husband. After their divorce, she returned to Kenya where she devoted herself to saving Lake Naivasha from the ecologically damaging flower farm industry.
David Magee (“Finding Neverland”) is writing the screenplay. The film is one of four that Working Title Films is prepping for an early 2008 start. The others are Richard Curtis’ “The Boat That Rocked,” Paul Greengrass’ “Imperial Life in the Emerald City” and the Coen brothers’ “A Serious Man.”
