Two-time Oscar nominee Jude Law is set to play the younger version of Albus Dumbledore in the second “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” film at Warner Bros. Pictures. 44-year-old Law will portray Dumbledore before the white-bearded wizard became the Headmaster at Hogwarts.
At this point in time, Dumbledore is still serving as the wizarding school’s Transfiguration professor. He is also a contemporary of Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), a charismatic dark wizard who believes wizards are superior to Muggles and No-Majs.
Rowling is penning the sequel which will find an even darker world where Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances.
The second of planned series of up to five films, Law’s role will likely stretch well beyond this immediate sequel. Richard Harris and Michael Gambon previously portrayed the character in the original film series.
The “Fantastic Beasts” opens on November 16th 2018.
