Jude Law is in negotiations to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” project reports Digital Spy.
The actor is finalizing a deal to portray the famous Baker Street detective’s sidekick Dr. John H. Watson – a role which Russell Crowe was previously rumored for until he denied the report.
Ritchie’s film will take inspiration from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic novels and Lionel Wigram’s comic book series which portays the great detective as more of a man of action.
Robert Downey Jr. has already been cast as the eponymous sleuth. A 2010 release is scheduled.
